Launching Workshop Of Coastal Erosion Prevention and Disaster Mitigation Project in Ca Mau Province
Ca Mau - December 6, 2024, the launching ceremony of the "Coastal Erosion Prevention and Disaster Mitigation Project in Ca Mau Province" was successfully organised by the People's Committee of Ca Mau Province, in coordination with the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD) through the Water and Natural Resources Management Facility (WARM).
Signing Of Financing Agreements: European Union And France To Support Ca Mau Province In Mitigating Climate Change Impacts
Hanoi – On 22 August 2024, the Ministry of Finance and the French Development Agency (AFD) officially signed the two financing agreements to launch the project of Coastal Erosion Prevention and Disaster Mitigation Project in Ca Mau Province. This project aims to implement structural and non-structural solutions based on scientific research and analysis, to prevent coastal erosion and restore mangrove ecosystems using a natural-based approach.
Official launch of project “Erosion prevention and sustainable protection in Hoi An coastal line, Quang Nam province” worthy of €37 million co-funded by AFD and the EU
Tam Ky, 03/07/2024 - A launching ceremony was organised today for the project “Erosion prevention and sustainable protection in Hoi An coastal line, Quang Nam province”, co-funded by AFD’s loan and EU’s grant, via the Water and Natural Resources Management Facility (WARM). The project aims at developing comprehensive solutions to prevent erosion and sustainably protect Hoi An's coastline, meeting the urgent need for housing stability and economic revitalization of the local communities in the project area.
Central provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Tri to receive financial support from the EU and France towards tackling climate change impact
Hanoi, March 15, 2024 - The financing agreements of two climate change adaptation projects in the central provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Tri respectively were officially handed over today from the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance to the French Agency for Development (AFD). The two projects include the “Coastal sustainable and preventive protection in Quang Nam province” and “Central coastal urban development towards green growth and response to climate change in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province”.
Consultation meeting “Integrated water resources management and piloting RBO on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin”
Tam Ky, March 7, 2024 - The Department of Water Resources Management, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Union (EU) and the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, organized a consultation meeting on "Integrated Water Resources Management and Piloting River Basin Organization on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River Basin." The primary objective of this meeting was to strengthen integrated water resources management and ensure water security in support of the effective implementation of the Law on Water Resources No. 28/2023/QH15. Additionally, the meeting aimed to explore the feasibility of establishing a pilot river basin organization in the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River Basin.
Hoi An coastline management strategy for sustainability
Quang Nam, 9th September 2023 - People's Committee of Quang Nam province and French Development Agency (AFD) co-organize the workshop "Hoi An coastline management strategy for sustainability". The objective is to discuss the measures to protect the entire coastline of Hoi An and re-establish the beaches here, contributing to the sustainable development in the central region of Vietnam. This workshop is organized under the framework of the project "Erosion prevention and sustainable coastal line protection for Hoi An, Quang Nam province" co-funded by AFD loan and EU’s grant through the Water and Natural Resources Management Fund (WARM Facility).

Technical assistance component kickoff workshop of the project “Multi-disaster management in Nam Rom river basin, Dien Bien province”
Dien Bien Phu City, March 22, 2023 - The Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee and the French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam jointly organized the Technical Assistance Component Kickoff Workshop of the Multi-disaster management in Nam Rom river basin to protect people, respond to climate change and socio-economic development, Dien Bien province in Dien Bien Phu city. This component - Technical Assistance of this project is funded by the European Union (EU) through the Water and Natural Resources Management (WARM) Facility. The purpose of the WARM Facility is to help strengthen Vietnam's resilience and resilience to the impacts from climate change and natural disasters.
Seminar “Sustainable planning and development of urban areas”
Hanoi, 7 March 2023 - The Central Economic Commission (CEC) of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Ministry of Construction in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD), have jointly organized the first seminar amongst its series on urban resilience at national level. This seminar is organized under the framework of WARM Facility funded by the European Union to improve Vietnam’s resilience to water-related hazards, through more resilient cities and territories to climate change and natural hazards.
MOU signing ceremony of a strategic and technical partnership to help Vietnam cities build climate change resilience
Hanoi, 12 May 2022 - HE. Le Quang Hung, Deputy Minister of Construction of Vietnam, and HE. Philippe Orliange, Executive Director of Geographies of the French Agency for Development (AFD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their cooperation on the resilience of the country's cities to climate change and natural hazards. The signing took place in the presence of the Vietnamese Minister of Construction, HE. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, and the French Ambassador to Vietnam, HE. Nicolas Warnery.
